Snow at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

My head is full of the cross overs between art and sport today, especially for disabled people - not a usual combination for me (I'm more usually into shopping than sport, truth be told).

Recently three disabled artists from Yorkshire - Helen Burke, Harry Harrison and Edmund Davies - undertook a research visit to Sheffiield on the Paralympic talent search day. What would disabled artists have in common with disabled sports people? What are the commonalities? What are the areas of difference? Well, today I was setting up the launch at an event where we will find out! We'll be holding an event at Yorkshire Sculpture Park on 18th March where each artist will put forward their creative responses to stimulate debate in the build up to 2012, the Olympics, Paralympics and the Cultural Olympiad.

The whole project is funded via Arts Council England and I'll be building a dedicated page on this site where people can chip in their opinions, plus setting up a facebook page too. If you want to know more - email me at joverrent@adainc.org and I'll keep you in the loop.
