Motion Disabled at Light Night Leeds
Sunday 23rd August, 2009
This is an artists impression of what's going to be happening on the 9th October this year when Simon McKeown's Motion Disabled exhibition comes to Leeds as part of Light Night - and I can't wait!
And there's not just the exhibition being projected either - there's two linked events planned to bring together disabled artists and the visual arts sector to have a critical debate on disability and the visual arts.
Projecting into the Future: Representation and interpretation of disability in the Visual Arts is in two parts, held at the Carridgeworks in Leeds: 10.30 – 12.30pm: a smaller event for disabled artists in particular to share perspectives on how disability is seen within the visual arts sector. 2.00 – 5.00pm: a larger event opening up the debate to include all those working in the visual arts sector, using Motion Disabled as a case study to provoke discussion and debate and including presentations from other regional inclusive or disability specific visual arts projects and organisations. What is the future we want to create for disabled people in relation to the visual arts?
I'll have further info in Sept, but if you are interested in finding out more, email me at joverrent@adainc.org to go on the mailing list
